Jim Bartley and Bob Newman founded Newbart Products as a partnership in 1984 to fill a unique niche in the identification card industry – to be a proactive company rather than a reactive entity.

The roots of a proactive ID card company are found in history and experience brought to the table by Newbart’s founders.

Jim has an extensive background in the identification card industry, starting in 1974 at Laminex. His tenure at Laminex took him to Charlotte, Chicago, western Pennsylvania and western New York. Then in 1977, the great Buffalo blizzard stimulated him to seek a more favorable climate in which to live and work, and later that year, Jim opened a new office for Laminex in Houston. Within a very short time, his focused hard work and determination rewarded him with Salesman of the Year honors in 1978.

After briefly leaving the industry in 1981, Jim soon returned as an identification card distributor.  Co-founder Bob Newman chose not to enter the business until 2003 and now holds the position of General Manager for the business.

Since 1984, Newbart has grown steadily, maintaining its image as the proactive identification card solutions provider, not only in Houston, but nationwide as well.

Establishing its cutting and forward-thinking reputation, Newbart Products was the first identification card vendor in Houston to carry video-imaging products (1988). Furthermore, we are the largest identification card company in Houston and are considered “the best in Texas” by the manufacturers we represent.
